Abstract

Higher Education Institutions have sought to develop mechanisms that reduce the gap between science and the citizen, in order to provide knowledge that allows improving the exercise of citizenship of the population. Thus, it is intended to analyze the activities of scientific dissemination carried out by Higher Education Institutions in Angola. Therefore, it is questioned, are there activities that are embodied in evidence of scientific dissemination in Higher Education Institutions? Through an interview applied to 10 people in charge of different HEIs, using the thematic analysis technique proposed by Bardin (2011). The analysis revealed that the activity of scientific dissemination is almost non-existent in those institutions; participants point out as bottlenecks: lack of appropriate infrastructures; lack of financial conditions; scarcity of scientific production and lack of organizational and scientific culture. It is hoped that this research will open a national debate on the role of Higher Education Institutions in the promotion of scientific culture in Angola, in order to promote an active and participatory citizenship and allow policy-makers to make decisions based on scientific evidence.
